TADPOLES: Feathers for Lunch
Saturday, March 2nd at 10 a.m.
Oakwoods Nature Center, Flat Rock
This monthly nature series, for young children, is themed from books by author Lois Ehlert.
This month’s theme is based off the “Feathers for Lunch” book.  We will look for the different birds found
at Oakwoods Metropark and talk about what you can see in your own backyard

EXPLORER’S CLUB:  Life in a Pond
Saturday, March 2nd at 10 a.m.
Oakwoods Nature Center, Flat Rock
Join us each month to explore a new topic.  This month we will explore what life in a pond is like.
We will talk about life in a vernal pool and grab the microscopes to see some of the cool critters
we will be collecting.  Dress for the weather!
Ages 6 and up.  $4 per child.

MAPLE SUGARING THROUGH THE AGES
Saturday, March 2nd, 9th, 16th & 23rd at 10 a.m. & 2 p.m.
Oakwoods Nature Center, Flat Rock
Come see the methods used to collect maple sap and learn how the maple tree helped sustain early Americans.
Hear the Native American legend of how our First Nations discovered maple sugaring, how early Europeans collected
sap to make syrup, and see a more modern method for developing the sweet stuff.
We will tap a tree to finish off this fun, family program!
$6 adults, $4 child

From beginner to expert, let’s get together, relax, knit, crochet, teach and learn.
Have a cup of coffee, a treat or two and make some new friends. This is not a class
on knitting or crocheting.  This is a monthly gathering of people who love to knit and

DROP-IN OWL PELLET DISSECTING DAY
Sunday, March 17th    10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Lake Erie Marshlands Museum, Brownstown
Stop in anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and learn about owls, owl pellets, and get your very own owl
pellet dissection kit.  Our staff will help you work through the pellet to dis over what the owl had for lunch,
and we will attempt to put the skeleton of the animal back together!

AMERICAN WOODCOCK WALK

Bog-sucker and Timberdoodle are just some of the names that refer to the quirky little bird known
as the American Woodcock.  Join us for a quick indoor overview of the Woodcock, followed by a trip
outdoors to witness the calls and dance of the male.  Dress for the weather and wear waterproof shoes!
